John Johns
Blair Guitar Program

The mission of the Blair School of Music of Vanderbilt University is three-fold:  to provide musical instruction to collegiate, pre-collegiate and adult students.  The guitar program at Blair is unique in that it serves all three categories of students.  Guitar majors may enroll as full-time students at Vanderbilt University leading to a Bachelor of Music degree in performance or Musical Arts, which allows more flexibility in pursuing academic interests.  Students from other schools at Vanderbilt may also study the classical guitar for elective credit or participate in guitar ensembles or various chamber groups.  Pre-collegiate students in the Nashville community either study privately or enroll in the Children's Guitar Program directed by Senior Artist Teacher Joe Rea Phillips.  Adult students in the Nashville area are also accepted for study of the classical guitar.
