THE COLUMBUS WOMEN'S ORCHESTRA

Emelyne M. Bingham, Music Director and Conductor

The Columbus Women's Orchestra is one of the few remaining women's orchestras in the country, committed to the performance of works of women composers by women musicians. Now in its 21st season, the CWO continues to play an integral part in the Columbus music scene, offering a variety of programs for music lovers of all ages. In addition to its regular concert series, the Columbus Women's Orchestra has performed for the National Convention of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the National Women's Studies Association. The CWO has given numerous premieres, including works by Gwyneth Walker, Esther Blood, and Harriet Bolz.

The Columbus Women's Orchestra was founded in 1977 by the Women In Music-Columbus, one of the oldest women's music organizations in the country. Now in its 117th year, Women In Music-Columbus sponsors not only the CWO concert series, but a chamber music series and concerts by the Columbus String Sinfonia as well.
