Schubert Resources
- Schubert
Institute (UK) includes an index, listing of events, information
on Schubert's life and works, a bibliography, and on-line articles.
The "life" section includes chronology, biography,
a Musical Times biography from 1886, bibliography, personalia,
and quotes. A fabulous Schubert site!
- Schubert Society
of the USA. The site includes articles, downloadable PDF
files of selected scores, a page of links, and membership information.
- Secrets
behind Schubert, a collection of info on Schubert's life,
music and most famous works created by Kristofer Andréasson.
The wittily named "Cybertiad" allows the reader to
contribute. For those into big sound files and pictures, there's
a wonderful (but slow-loading) graphics
version of the site
- Schubert
Autographs. A resource developed in conjunction with the
Vienna City Library, this site has reproductions of more than
500 music autographs documents pertaining to Schubert's life.
- Portraits and Pictures:
- The
Franz Schubert Picture Gallery
- Pictures
of Schubert Memorial Sites by Tomoko Yamamoto, especially
his journey with Vogl in 1825.
- Schubert im Bild
from AEIOU (The Annotatable Electronic Interactive Oesterreich
Universal Information System)

Resources on Schubert's Works
- The "Lied
and Song Texts Page" This page gives texts, translations,
and poet information for a number of composers; Schubert entries
are gathered under four labels: Die Schöne Müllerin;
Schwanengesang; Winterreise; Miscellaneous Lieder. A useful site!
- Catalog of
Works by Franz Schubert based on the Deutsch catalog; provides
some recommendations for selected recordings. A listing
by Deutsch number is available. Both pages are maintained
by Paul Geffen.
- Selected sheet
music and scores from Music-Scores.com.
- Notes
on Schubert by pianist Bart Berman, including an article
on the unfinished sonatas, analyses of several piano duets, some
links and descriptions of Berman's CDs.
- Winterreise,
a site developed by Margo Briessinck, with translations, MIDI
files, performance reviews, and selected articles on the cycle.
