WELCOME!

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics at Vanderbilt University. My research focuses on trade liberalization with firm heterogeneity. I specialize in International Trade and Applied Microeconomics.

My dissertation provides analysis of the effects of trade liberalization for the short run. My dissertation contributes to the study of the effect of trade liberalization on the average productivity of firms within a sector. I demonstrate that the average productivity of firms within a sector changes differently in different sectors in response to trade liberalization. This dissertation analyzes the effects of trade liberalization on the welfare of the owners of the various factors used in production, the reallocation of factors across and within sectors, factor prices, employment, the number of firms (and a share of exporting firms) and average productivity of firms in different sectors. The underling mechanisms of both types of trade liberalization, the transition from autarky to costly trade as well as the reduction in trade costs while experiencing costly trade have been explored in my dissertation for the case when comparative advantage is driven by differences in sector-specific capital.

MY FUTURE RESEARCH     focuses on identification of the conditions producing positive and negative outcomes of trade liberalization for economic agents. I develop theoretical models that allow for such analysis. Along this line of theoretical research, I plan the development of the empirical framework to measure the magnitudes of the effects of trade liberalization on different economic variables.
